Programme

10.00-10.30 Arrival, sign in at reception with coffee, tea and biscuits provided by the University of Law catering team. Please collect your delegate pack which will contain information about the competition, your timetable for the day and promotional material from WestLaw.

10.30-11.00 Welcome by Sandy Gaines, Campus Dean, University of Law (Bloomsbury). Introduction, housekeeping, structure of the day, what are we hoping to achieve , brief introduction to the competition.

11.00-11.30 Split into small groups depending on the choice of room- 8 choices

    11.30-12.00 Small groups repeated.

    11.00-12.00 Faculty discussion group. Discussion about how you feel the competition should develop and what you would like to see happen in respect of the competition. Led by Julie Price.

    12.00-12.30 Student Panel. Former competitors run a panel of questions and answers. The panel consists of Amy Bell, Dominic Griffin and Sonali Gupta.

    12.00-12.30 Break out session for faculty with their regional co-ordinators to discuss issues ahead of the Regionals. Sessions led by Joe Thompson (London and South East), Chris Baldwin (North), Matthew Parry (South West).

    12.30-13.15 Lunch. Sandwiches, wraps, cakes and drinks provided by Capital Caterers. We will be seeking to start the afternoon session on time and would ask everyone to make their way to their rooms by 13.10.

    13.15-15.55 Small Group Interviews: 4 teams and three judges to a room. Each team within a room will have a different scenario with a client who will be prepared for them. The students will have a maximum of 30 minutes to use as they please i.e. with or without a reflection period. They will receive 10 minutes feedback from the judges.

    16.00-16.30 Faculty Panel. Committee Members run a panel of questions and answers. The panel consists of Graham Robson, Marc Howe, Edward Phillips, and Aruna Verma. Moderated by Matthew Parry.

    16.30-16.45 Closing discussion about lessons learned and final advice from faculty members.

    16.45-17.00 Final questions, feedback and farewell.
